How do you say it – Blowg or Blog?
Ok, so the other day, me & my wife were arguing how to pronounce the word ‘blog‘. For some idiosyncratic reason i’ve always pronounced it as ‘blowg’. So my wife searched the internet, played me the pronunciation from various websites & even played youtube videos of some famous bloggers. All this to “drill some sense into my head” apparently. But I refused to budge. The correct way to say it may be ‘blog’, but I still wanted to call it ‘blowg’. It was my own way of saying it, I said & the internet allowed me the freedom to do & say as I wanted! And indeed it does. Read More
How many gadgets do you really need?
When people see me carrying around an iPhone, iPad and using a macbook air, they often label me asgadget freak. They think I’m some kind of nerdy guy who likes to have and play around with gadgets. I mean why on earth do you need the iPhone & iPad both right? They both run on iOS & have similar apps and functionalities available. And that I had my tryst with apps when I got involved in the launch of the the first Vodafone India app store. Yes, tryst. Apps, particularly mobile apps, really captured my imagination back then. It was almost magical. You could make a smartphone sing and dance, be at your beck and call. You could breathe life into it and it made you feel like god. Read More
Shades of Red…
So there I was, the king of calling cards. I had no desire to abandon it. And why would I? My boss & even his boss accepted my views. I could literally make or break the case for a product. But had I stayed on in that profile, I would have stagnated later on for sure. The product was all but discontinued & it’s management tossed from team to team periodically, depending on who was willing to carry the monkey on their shoulders. So I have to thank my mentors Abhinav Jha & Indranil Sen for making me realize that there was a world beyond calling cards.
About the time when Hutch transitioned to Vodafone… Read More
Shades of pink…
I often end up telling this story to my wife & to anyone else with a keen ear. So I thought I might as well blog about it. Because it’s an interesting one. It’s the story of my 5 years and 5 months of corporate life. It’s kinda long & so I’ve split it in two parts. Why do I call this one shades of pink? Because pink was the color of Hutch, where I started my career. Read More
Benefits of being an InterPreneur
Each year, in the beginning of June, the monsoon starts to set in in the city of Mumbai. After a harsh, baking summer, people of Mumbai get a refreshing change of weather. It’s indeed a wonderful feeling to wake up to rains in the morning. In this city of hustle & bustle, it brings about a zen calmness. Monsoon mornings are really nice in this part of the country. But sometimes it gets nasty. Overnight storms lead to a plethora of problems by morning. The rain causes water logging & to add to it, trees collapse from the heavy rain & gusty winds.
